Cynthia was born in Derby in 1976. She grew up living in Yiyili most of her life. She attended Yiyili School since 1982, when Yiyili School first started. In 1990 she decided to further her education and went to Kormilda College in Darwin. Cynthia has worked for the Yiyili Aboriginal Community School in many different roles over the years. Cynthia now has six children and three grandchildren. Cynthia developed interest in painting by watching other family members paint, especially her mum Jocelyn Cox, the chairperson of the school, who is also an artist here at the Gallery. Cynthia loves painting about bush tuckers, bush animals, culture and the dreamtime stories.
