Our Story

Laarri is a small not-for-profit Art Cente located in Yiyili Community which is 170 kilometres east of Fitzroy Crossing and 120 kilometres west of Halls Creek and 5km from the Great Northern Highway. There are signs on the highway to Laarri Gallery at one kilometre from the turn off and also at the turn off.
The Art Centre was established in 1999 in a collaboration between Yiyili Community Indigenous Corporation and Yiyili Aboriginal Community School.
Artworks have an interesting contemporary-style and traditional art and crafts detail local history. Artists create and produce original works on canvas and some artefacts such as didgeridoos and painted boab nuts. There is also merchandise for sale, such as bags, scarves and ties which feature local artists' designs.
The goal of Laarri Art Centre is to provide a place for local artists to work and a space to show. At Yiyili the money raised from artwork sales goes directly back into the community, not only supporting the artists, but the community at large.
