Jocelyn Cox

Jocelyn was born on Cherubin Station on the 1st of June in 1947. She has eight siblings and is the great granddaughter of William Cox (dec), who established Louisa Downs Station in the late 1800’s. After some years Jocelyn’s mother Judy (Dec) and father Dudley (Dec) brought the family back to Louisa Downs Station in the 1950’s. The family had a camp down at the riverside until the big flood came and they moved to where Yiyili community sits today. She is an important community elder and is the chairperson of the Yiyili Community School. Jocelyn paints the flowers and bush tucker of her country. Her paintings explore culture and country taking colours and textures from the surrounding landscape. She is a talented artist and has sold many paintings to both national and international buyers.
