Lisa was born in Wyndam, the eldest child to Wayne Gordon and Marjorie Cox (Dec).  She grew up on Lamboo Station and attended Halls Creek District High School for five years.  Her family then moved to Yiyili Community where she continued High School. Lisa worked on Margaret River Station and Louisa Downs Station as a stockwomen for many years. She used to do training to become a nurse and also used to attend Saint Bridgett’s College in Perth. She now lives here in Yiyili where she works for HACC, Home and Community Care, taking care of the oldest in community. Lisa is very knowledgeable about her native language, Gooniyandi and teaches many children and adults in her local Community.

She became interested in painting by watching her mother Marjorie Cox (Dec) and Grandfather Norman Cox (Dec) when she was very young.  Lisa enjoys painting colorful pictures with acrylic on canvas; she paints about her culture and country in modern themes.  She is a regular artist at the Laarri Gallery.
