Laarri Art Centre

Sandra was born in Derby, grew up on Louisa Downs Station and was educated at Yiyili Community School. In 1995, Sandra moved with her family to Pullout Springs a small community approximately 3kms from Yiyili. Sandra is the partner of Terry Dawson (a well-known artist) they have 8 children and one grandson. Sandra and her parents then started a small community of they own call Kurinyjarn on the other side of Pullout. Sandra is a regular painter here at the Laarri Gallery and has had great success with both acrylic and ochre. She likes to paint mostly about bush food and bush animals. Sandra’s work is popular and has sold nationally. She was an entrant in the Kimberley Art Prize representing the Laarri Gallery and Yiyili Community. Sandra is also mention often in a chapter of a book called ‘Diamonds and Dust, written by Sheryl McCorry.
