Sarah was born on the 23^rd of April in 1996 to proud parents Peter McCale and Katie Leria. She was born in Darwin and is the only child. Sarah’s father Peter is a Gurinji man from Wave Hill and Sarah’s Mother Katie (dec) is a Gooniyandi woman from Yiyili which means Sarah speaks both languages. She grew up in Yiyili Community and attended Yiyili Aboriginal Community School up until year 10. She then did her further education in Darwin at St Johns College. Sarah now has a partner and a son Timocoy. She lives in Yiyili and works as a cleaner at the school. Sarah learnt how to paint by watching her mother Katie (dec) and Aunty Cynthia Cox who are both well-known artists. Sarah loves painting about bush tuckers and the dreamtime.
